Bash at Differ Ariake. We wanted to go to this event because Aural Vampire was
playing, our newly discovered fav Japanese band. Check em out on YouTube.
To get there, we had to take the subway to another private rail system and catch an
elevated train to Ariake Tennis No Mori. At first I thoght this would be kinda annoying
and difficult, but like all Japanese train systems, it was quite simple, quick, and as it
turned out it was a very beautiful ride through a part of Japan we hadn't seen yet.
On the train to Ariake Tennis No Mori station.
Differ Ariake is like a big theater house basically, similar to our larger venues here
in the States, but still, different in its own Japanese way. Basically, after doors open
you file into a long side room that is next to the stage area. In the side room, vendors
can set up booths, people can take photos, and you can get some food from the little
stand (this was the ONLY bad food I ate in Japan by the way, gross fried chicken nugs
and some other nasty crap). This was also the only area where drinking was allowed.
Right next to the food stand, you had your choice of Heineken (BARF, I hate Heineken),
some sort of fizzy lemon alcohol drink in a can, or.....wait for it.......ZIMA in a can. I don't
think I have touched a Zima since highschool, but given the options, it was the best
they could offer at Differ Ariake. All the convenience stores carried Zima too. Who
woulda thought Zima was big in Japan??
Linda, Exo-Chika (lead singer of Aural Vampire) and me.
