So Saturday we left for Moab to celebrate our anniversary, while at the same time attending the Moab ZuZu '08 event. The Reno VX Convoy left around 6am, and headed east for six hours across HWY 50. Here we are in Austin, NV (about half way to The Great Basin National Park)
So I decided to take another walk through Rancho on my lunch break to see how the herp activity is progressing now that the weather has FINALLY warmed up a bit. I am happy to say there was no skunkage! With the recent warm weather, there has been some melting and the "creek" that runs through Rancho had some water. The toads were out, waiting for the cover of darkness to get busy.
So I took the VX out on a little trail ride today to test out the lift and the new meat. Handling is much better and the ground clearance is very nice.
So since we moved to Reno we have gotten in the habit of going over to the Bay Area for our birthdays. This time was no different. So, after everyone got up, we went into the Japanese mall and walked around.
The 4th week of April was a tough one. Rest in peace, little Meana. You are already missed. After Wednesday, we needed to get away, and so for Linda's birthday we drove over the hill again to San Francisco where our friends Tom and Kris were waiting for us. They flew in earlier from Chicago. Tom's birthday is the day before Linda's so we all got together to celebrate the quickness of time. Friday morning we went over to Berkeley for some shopping and food at my favorite little gormet shop.
So tonight I set out to find the source of the ribbit I have been hearing from the lake next to our new development. I pulled on the rubber boots, strapped my headlamp on, grabbed my dip net and set out. This is what I found.
