Easter Camping: Part 1

I've been wanting go camping for weeks.  The weather here has been really nice for wintertime, so we planned to camp Easter weekend.  As the weekend got closer, the weather started to turn bad. Par for the course.  So the plans changed to steer us away from the rain and snow, and we ended up going straight east and south a little to an area just south of Austin, NV.  We drove out Friday after work and made it to the campsite just as the sun began to set taking any warmth in the air along with it.
But we are camping, damnit! This trip was meant to be a trial for some of my new gear, mainly my new James Baroud roof top tent.  I've wanted one of these stupid expensive contraptions for years now.  Finally, I have one.  Here it is opened at the campsite.
Abandoned mines, a common site throughout Nevada.
CeCe follows me to see.
Good advice, but I had to step in a few feet anyhow.
That white speck in the middle of the photo is the top of the tent.
Linda is in there sleeping.
My toilet....just kidding. :)
Another piece of gear to test was the new privacy tent. It's basically a portable outhouse/shower stall.
The tent closed, nice and aerodynamic.
Another shot.
Luigi.
Ruins.
Stuff like this makes exploring NV entertaining.
And very photogenic.
Linda trying to stay warm.
There's fish in that puddle, believe it or not.
More Trooper porn.
Profile shot looking proper.
Rotopax on the rear ladder. This worked out really well. I can fill them while they are in place too, which is very nice.
I also bought a Trasharoo spare tire garbage bag recently.  This thing is great. It's like a backpack for your truck. I used it to carry two days worth of firewood out and then trash on the way home.  Very, very handy for stuff you do not want inside your vehicle.
Another shot of the hind end.
This was an abandoned guard station.
There's so much out here just left behind.
Me and my shadow.
Funny.

Nice fireplace.
Vintage stove. Would be cool to restore.
Most of the trail was a nicely graded road like this.

Barn.
Stuf left behind.
We stopped in this grassy area for lunch. It was nice in the sun.
