Just took possession yesterday.
I bought the car from the original owner. It's a 99% original, garage kept, Arizona
car. A fine addition to my little Isuzu fleet.
The Isuzu Impulse was conceived by the famous Italian auto designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro,
the same genius behind the DeLorean DMC-12 and the 1974 VW Scirocco. The 1st generation
Impulse is now an extremely rare car, rarer than my Isuzu Vehi-CROSS, so finding one in
this condition was a true stroke of luck I think. Or maybe I'm just kidding myself because I like
it so much. Either way, here it is!
In other countries, the Impulse was named the "Piazza". I can only imagine that for the American market, they
changed the name to "Impulse" because Piazza sounds too much like Pizza, despite the fact that the car was
also affectionately referred to as "The Wedge", due to its cheese wedge shape.
One of the most striking (to me at least) features of the Impulse, is the retro-futuristic dash. The design was meant to give the driver an "everything-at-your-fingertips" advantage, so you could always keep your eyes
on the road. Pretty neat.
:)
Hee~! You like the oddest things, B! And I say that with deep affection! Congrats on the new sled!
ReplyDeleteYou and your vehicles, lol.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are going to have to get a new house with a bigger garage!
Thanks, I know I am a "strage one". :)
ReplyDeleteClose your eyes, and in your minds eye, imagine the expression on Linda's face when I brought it home. XD I've actually made the hard decision to sell off the Falcon, so eventually I will be back to 3 vehicles + Linda's 1.
ReplyDeleteIt really seems like you are trying to sell the car to me. I still don't buy it. It looks to be in great shape. Each to his own.If thats what the dash looks like THAT is cool!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the dash does look like that, which is really cool. I got new tires today and it made a HUGE difference. Much more road grip and it eliminated the shake it had at speed. So far I am really pleased with it...I know its not for everyone, but I like it.
