Camping near the Ruby Mountains

I took a couple days off at the end of the week so Tom and I could
go check out the Ruby Mountains area in Eastern Nevada.

All in all, it was a good time, but this area of NV was not what we expected.
Being only 30 minutes or so south of Elko, the area was not as
desolate and remote as you would think.  There were a lot of other
campers and tourists, but the area is really quite beautiful no matter
which way you slice it.  We did find some cool campsites and some
really fun 4x4 trails.  Before we left, Tom helped me get my Aussie
Locker installed, which made wheeling in the Trooper 100% better.
No more open diff in the rear!  The traction difference was like night
and day, just amazing.  I was walking up hills I would have stalled out
on a week before.

Roadkill.  The head was removed and taken for the bone beneath.

Trooper pron.

I dunno.  If I had to because I was starving, probably, but with other options, I just couldn't do it.
What is the difference between this cute baby cow and my dog?

More Trooper pron.

This hill was damn steep.  Definitely a little nerve racking to climb as the last part
of it was REALLY steep and rutted out and a little off camber.  It was awesome.
Tom has video of me coming up from the top which I need to get from him. I had
wheels off the ground a couple times.  Tom said he thought I was going to roll
it when I was going up.

Awesome sunrise.

This jackrabbit was in the middle of the trail.  I stopped because I didn't want to squish it.  It was very calm,
and didn't really move until I was about a 2 feet away.

Aside from the fact that our tents were on a severe angle, this was the best campsite
we found.  There was water and the mountains above offered a good late afternoon
hike.

That's all for now.
