We came upon a valley, with a resting group of Pronghorn.
They let me get pretty close...
Before this happened.
Tom in the wide open.
We then did a little more bush driving.
This trail was pretty overgrown.
You can see to the right in this photo, the valley where Aspens grow.
Bonus Bubonus Photo.
It's pretty cool how in the desert you have these little springs where small wooded areas can survive the scotching heat and extended dryness.
We then came upon another abandoned homestead. Only vultures live here now.
Looks to be from the 50s or 60s.
I wonder what left this trail in the tall grass?
We pressed on and came out on the north end of the Black Rock Desert.
Here we found some more shacks.
We did some more hiking in the blazing heat, up a mountain near another mining area.
Tom up top.
At the top of the hike.
Ultimately we found a cooler, higher spot to camp.
Gopher.
More desert weirdness.
The sky looked like doom on our last night, but it didn't rain at all.
My fat ass chillin'.
Foreboding clouds that only teased the landscape with the idea of rain.
