España - Post 6

The next day, we attempted to go to the main train station and buy tickets to Figueras, a city a couple hours outside of Barcelona, on the Spain/France border where the Dalí Theatre and Museum is.

We learned very quickly, that buying a train ticket in Barcelona is nothing short of a fiasco. You basically wait in a huge line (like for 2 hours) only to get to a window where you can buy a ticket FOR THE NEXT DAY or later.  So this through our plans off a little.  We still got tickets for the following day, and salvaged the rest of the day wandering around Barcelona some more.

After leaving the ordeal at the train station, we were left with an open-ended day.  Outside the trains station, we found this enormous metal sculpture that you could climb on.

A view from inside and down a slide.
We kept wandering, stopped for a snack, and found out that the Barcelona Comic Con was happening, so we went. Caca Bang Bang.  No idea what this is, but I like it.
Me and a giant Wolverine #1. I had this comic back in the day.
Part of the Comic Con was all about war comics. They had a small exhibit of some military vehicles, which is cool.
Half-tracks are awesome.
Later, I ate two Fartons.
Dinner #1, all you can eat Tapas.  This place was packed, but awesome.  You just eat what you want, and pay for the toothpics you have on your plate in the end.
Dinner #2.  We didn't need to eat these burgers, but we did, and they were delicious.  This place also had a line out the door.   If you want to eat, and eat and eat, Barcelona is the place!
The next day, we jumped our bullet train to Figueras.
The high speed train was similar in many ways to the Shinkensen.  Here we are on the train.
Linda is a good sport.
Dali Musuem!
I guess the museum is an old theater that Dali bought and turned into a place to house his work...and later his remains.
The courtyard of the museum, very weird, in all possible ways, right down to the upside down elephant skull.
Dali sculpture.
The tomb.
The halls were decorated with many of his line drawings, this one was really cool I thought.
Crazy couch.
The Abraham Lincoln painting from a far. Up close it is a naked woman standing.
After the Dali Museum, we went to a small antique toy museum that is nearby.  Very, very cool.
Awesome cat.
Puppets from hell!
Caps.
Even some giant robots!
Linda really liked the dolls.
Weird.
Cool house, on the way back to the station.
Train food.  These were some sort of nasty Cheeto like snacks.  Not so good.
That night we had another fine dinner and a bottle of wine.
