Flipped my first hot!!!!

Again we set out into the wilds of northern California for a bloated day
of field herping.  My goals: Rattle Snake, King Snake, Ringneck Snake
and Rubber Boa.  Three outta four ain't bad!!!

We'll start with a nice habitat shot by Kyotopunk.

WILD TURKEYS!!

Me on the hunt. An excellent way to spend the day.

A very green Pseudacris regilla.
Fencie warming up on some hot rubber.

And FINALLY, while flipping on a hill side, I got my first hot!

Me shooting, Mike handling and the Trooper watching.

Another gorgeous hillside shot by Kyotopunk...

Shortly after I flipped the Crotalus, Mike turned up this beauty...

I saw some of the largest Alligator Lizards ever on Saturday.

Scorpion love....

Mike scored again with this baby Gopher Snake.

And then two Ring-necked Snakes.

A very photogenic Speckled Black Sally I flipped.

The pitbull of Fence lizards.

Later in the day I found my first Arboreal Salamander.  This is my favorite shot of the day.

Nanner slug.

Juvie Speckled Black.

Another Speckled Black as found.

Insanely beautiful landscape.

  1. I am very careful actually. Still, Rattle snakes are not as aggressive as one would think. But yeah, you need to be carefull all the time. :) I have a huge amount of respect for a creature that could land me in the hospital for a month and cause me some serious pain and financial damage.

And yes, I would like to get together for sure! I have music for you. And I would REALLY love to camp out on your land!!!

  5. Yup. And there are PLENTY more I need to see. That was a Northern Pacific Rattle Snake. I still need to find one here in NV (Great Basic Rattle Snake).
