flew by, as usual, and now the fun is over. It was very nice to spend so much time away from
civilization. The following seven or so posts will take you through the week...
Day 1: We left Reno around 4:00pm heading straight into NV via I-80. We wanted to get an
early start on the trip so we didn't have to cram so much driving into one day. We made it all
the way to Winnemucca before we decided we should pull off and camp somewhere for the
night.
We exited east of town and settled on this spot:

Right about when we got our tents up and we decided to cook up the sloppy joes is when the wind
started. The wind was not friendly. We were battered into the night by gust after gust of dust. Tom's
tent got the worst dose but we all had grit in our teeth and a nice layer of desert sand all over
everything by the morning. None of us slept well that night, as the wind made a lot of noise and our
tents folded down on us all night. At some point I woke up and put my hand on my face and it was
covered in dust. In addition to that is was pretty warm out, so yeah, the first night was quite uncomfortable...
