so steady hand at some bird shots. The birds common around the house are small
and fast and difficult to shoot, except for the mourning doves, which look like fat, little
chickens. This is the best photo I took I think. The colors are nice, especially after
I adjusted the contrast a little in post.
The lens is large and heavy, but fairly easy to wield without a tripod. The auto focus is fast, but difficult to
use when photographing birds in trees, as it tends to hunt alot through all the branches. I managed to
take a few decent shots. The lens has yet to really impress me. The bokeh is substandard compared to
our prime macro lens, which takes shots with beautiful out of focus areas. The Sigma's zoom factor is sub-
stantial, and I think better photos can be obtained with a tripod and cable release. But for now, I am somewhat
on the fence. I wish I could afford a prime, Nikkor 500mm lens.
For being so far away shooting at these moving geese, I was pretty happy with this photo. The detail is clear
but there is a little fringing around the birds, maybe due to the post sharpening.
These little red chested birds are all over. I'm not sure what they are. Maybe some sort of sparrow or finch.
These photos were decent, but I think they should be better. I had to sharpen them and enhance the contrast
to get them to look like this.
