Waking up before sunrise at Dog Valley...

Tuesday night we headed up to the Dog Valley campsite just over the border.
I had to work the next day, so we decided to camp here since it is only about 20
minutes from home.  I figured I could pack up about 6:30am and get home in time to
shower and go to work.

We spent the afternoon hiking up the mountain.  We ascended over 1000 vertical feet
and capped out around 7600'.

Jimbo contemplating the meaning of life...

Me wishing I could just stay up here and never work again...

Tom wondering to himself, "God, why isn't everyone as perfect as me??"

Ryan wishing he wasn't wearing women's underpants.

Us...

After the hike we set up camp...

There is nothing quite like it...

After some good conversation, drink, and cheddar dogs, we relaxed and then settled down in our tents.
The wind picked up in late afternoon and we knew we were in for a long night.
The wind came in waves a few minutes apart all night long, hammering our tents and prohibiting sleep.
At about 4am I got out of the tent and noticed a tiny bit of icey snow coming down, but nothing to worry about.....
until about 6am when I decided its time to get up and go to work...

Holy crap!  2 inches of snow on the ground and time to pack up the campsite and head out...

Driving out of the mountains in the dark and pouring snow, watching the sunrise as we went.  Something I
will never forget...and something I hope to do again, but without having to work the next day....uggg
