Trip to Moab: Day 1

OK, so I am going to break the posts from the last 5 days into separate posts for each day.
We took 5GBs of pics and 3 mini-DV tapes worth of video.

We left early Saturday morning and hit hwy 50 about 1.5 hours into the drive.  Highway 50 is also
known as Lincoln Highway, and also known as "The Loneliest Road in America".  There are several
very long stretches of nothing but beautiful Nevada high desert and Great Basin mountain ranges.
There are a few small towns on the way, one of which is Austin, right in the middle of the state. We
stoped for gas in Austin and checked out "Stokes Castle" below.

We started taking photos here.  Linda's camera has a new macro, which I love very, very much.

Check out this shot of a lizard I spotted hiding in an old log.  He was about 6-7 inched long.

After Austin we pressed on to reach Great Basin National Park, which is located on the eastern side of
Nevada, right on the Utah border. It was 10 times more beautiful than I expected it to be.  Below is a shot of
Linda chillin' at our campsite with CeCe.

We camped right along this rushing water called Baker Creek.  Its very nice to breath the clean mountain air,
and fall asleep next to the sound of the water.

Unfortunately, mankinds footprint is visible even in places like this.  This poor snake died under the wheel
of a vehicle.  He might look ok, but trust me, he was dead and I was sad.  Let him live on forever in this photo.

A few more Macro shots:

Proof that you get what you pay for.

I love the macro because I love the little details.  I could spend an hour in one spot taking photos of all the tiny
things around me.

As we hiked around our campsite, the white trees carefully watched us with their many eyes.

On the paths around the campsites, we were always on the lookout for Marmots.  "What do marmots look like",
we wondered.

Continue on to Day 2 to find out!
