We set out in the late morning to find Quartz Mountain. This place was a small mining camp during the late 1920s. It is situated about 2 hours east of Reno in northern Nye county. I thought Pyramid Lake was in the middle of nowhere...until we went here.
We wanted to accomplish 2 things: 1) Take some cool pics of Linda's dolls and 2) Take some cool pics of me in some wasteland inspired costumes to go along with Zac's role playing game called Decay: The Remnants of Earth.
Just to get an idea of the vast openess of Nevada, here is a nice shot of Linda and the VehiCROSS down below:
There were open mine shafts everywhere. In my heart I wanted to descend, but my mind knows better...the sign above the opening reads "UNSAFE MINE, STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE".
So for the first hour or so, I just walked around with CeCe and explored the area...
This is my favorite shot from the entire day:
I don't think there was anything out there that didn't have at least 100 bullet holes in it...
So Linda finished up with her dolls and then I got into character...
The following 5 are photos of an idea I had for an Outland Bandit character. The sun was so bright, I decided to digitally enhance these...
The next 4 are for some other quick ideas I had...
.
I need more outfits and more guns...yes, definitely more guns...
After we packed up and started to head out, we passed another abandoned mine camp that we somehow missed on the way in. The shafts are deep and they remind me of when that "fool of a Took" knocks the bucket down the well while in the Mines of Morria.
Some weird sludge that smelt kinda funny...
After this area, we headed out. On the way back near the town of Middlegate, I remembered seeing a lump off the side of the road that looked like it might be something of interest....indeed it was. Nothing like a carcass to top off a fine day of photography in the wasteland....
And now I must get to bed...
I love the shots of you in character. The digital enhancement makes them look incredible. The sky adds to the polluted, post-apocalyptic feel. Great work!
