Lunch Break Ride & Herp

So I rode to work and wanted to check out this pond for tadpole action...

There were tadpoles...
Lots...
Those black areas are thick with larva.
I was thinking I might find a garter snake gorging on these but perhaps it was too hot. I need to come back early in the morning and see.
Two species here. One toad, one frog.
Frog.
Toad.
And one adult Sierran Treefrog was hanging around.
Underside.
Pretty rock like camo...
These little guys are cute.
Looks just like a rock or two.
Also found this mummified neck and head.
Crushed under a rock..probably on purpose.
Western Yellow-bellied Racer.
And there are loads of scorpions here.
My spirit animal.
And then, I got lucky and found a gopher!
Very nice snake. Did not show any aggression.
I snapped a few photos.
And then set the snake back under the log where it lives.
Snakes are cool.
And then I looked about 10 feet away and saw this!
Crotalus oreganus leutosus....right in the grass!
This is why I love NV.
So many trails.
So much fun.
You can see all of Reno/Sparks from up here!
