For most people, vacation means time off. But for us, it also means no holds barred eating.
| First stop: Pork Belly Grub Shack. This place is off Truxel Road in Sacramento, and I am kind of obsessed with it. |
| This is the breakfast I made for us on Sunday, toasted English muffins with cheesy scrambled eggs topped with bacon. |
| This area of California is full of nice restaurants that tend to have different things on the menu that I can try. This place had quail, and it was a natural choice for me, since I have never had quail. The little buggers look just like headcrabs, don't they? |
| Standard headcrab. |
| Linda had the Swordfish. |
| At another place, I found rabbit to try for the first time. It was surprisingly delicious, like meaty lean chicken. |
| Linda had lamb shank. |
| At Silver's we had some nice shrimp Ceviche. |
| My fish & chips. |
| Linda had a crab Louie sandwich. |
| Up in Little River is a place called Wild Fish, Linda's favorite spot, and we both ordered the special, whole Dungeonous Crab. Crabs are a pain in the ass to eat, but worth the labor. |
| And since we were in our own house with a full kitchen, we made our own Thanksgiving turkey dinner. |
| Here it is. |
| And on Saturday, we couldn't resist a detour through San Fran for some Okonomiyaki! |
