So for our 13/13 Anniversary, we flew over the little pond to Spain, to spend a week in Barcelona. I really didn't know what to expect, other than good food and drink, as Barcelona is known for being a foodie's dream come true.
| Here we are, on deck for 14 hours of traveling. |
| Flight #1 brought us to O'hare, where I had time to find some mediocre, yet real pizza and a couple chocolate glazed donuts from Dunkin, foodstuff I can normally not have in Reno. |
| 8.5 hours. |
| Yum....not so much. |
| "I think anybody who falls in love is a freak. It's a crazy thing to do. It's kind of like a form of socially acceptable insanity." |
| 30,000 miles up in the crapper. |
| Finally, mainland EU. |
| Barcelona streets... |
| The first food we had, squid rings and croquettes, both items were on just about every Tapas menu. |
| This little place was right next to our apartment. And it was fully of strange rangers. |
| Everywhere you looked, old and amazing. |
| After 14 hours of travel, we landed in Barcelona around 10:30am, tired. We had to try and stay awake for a while. |
| We wandered. |
| And checked into our apartment. |
| Nice and tidy, and WAY cheaper than a hotel. |
| Bafroom. |
| Kinder Surprise. |
| Out the window. |
| Weird accidental self portrait. |
| The apartment building had a little deck on the roof which was cool. |
| 70 steps to get to our room, 70 narrow, tight, short steps. |
| In a last ditch effort to stay awake for a few more hours, we ended up at the small but very nice Barcelona Aquarium. A pair of Chambered Nautilus chillin'. These are among my favorite mollusks. |
| After the aquarium, where we were both feeling dizzy, we decided to call it. We made it until about 8:30pm, and crashed. |
Day 2 coming up!
