MeXiCo 2014 - Day Tres

The next morning we work up early to go on our Mariettas Island Tour.

The catamaran we took out into the bay.
Heading out...
Our destination, Mariettas Island.
We got dumped into the water for some snorkeling.
I brought the Pentax Optio I bought in Japan.  Supposed to be waterproof, and I was a little worried about submerging it into salt water, but it worked!
Waves!
These didn't come out great.
But I am happy to know the camera does work underwater without issue.
There were loads of colorful fish below us.
Linda resting on the sand.
Me looking like a doofus.
Back in!
After snorkeling we got in one of these smaller boats for some bird watching.
The waves crashed against the rocks.
Really pretty spot.
Chock full of sea birds.
Most notably, brown and blue-footed boobies.
The boat went right up to the rocks.
Crabs everywhere on the rocks too.
...
Blue feet.
Two doing their thing.
Cool looking.
They have weird faces.
Inside a "Cave".
Pretty colors.
Greens and various shades of purple.
Cool pic Linda took.
Yes, there was an odor.
On the way back, we saw loads of spotted dolphins, a couple turtles and then the highlight of the trip for me, humpback whales.
I was too mesmerized to take a bunch of photos.
Thar she blows!
So incredibly cool to see.
Back to PV.
That night we got to help some desperate babies make their way back to the surf.
Olive Ridleys.
Squeeeee!!! As they say.

  1. Yeah, well, there were a couple of the hotel guys trying to get them into the surf and out of harms way, so I just helped. I couldn't resist.
