Camping Lye Creek

Lye Creek.
A couple weeks ago I got word from a fellow PlanetIsuzoo member that he had an '89 RS for sale, just like mine. So we got to talking, and we struck a deal.  So why would I need a second Trooper RS?
Because I'm an addict, of course!!  But, really the answer is simple: to avoid body work.  My original RS has some body damage that would ultimately need replacement panels/body work to fix.  Avoiding this, in my opinion, is going to be a time saver in the long run. So the plan is to combine the best parts into one straight, rust free '89 RS, and then sell the other one. Here's a set of photos from the adventure.
The new to me RS after it made it home.
Good condition factory optioned brush guard.  Its a little loose, but it will clean up nicely.
The two RSes, both most likely originally from Boise, ID.
So, Saturday morning, Linda and I drove north to meet Nate in Orovada, NV. Here we are as I inspected the RS for the first time.
This is where the deal went down.
My boy, Luigi and I with Nate and the RS
The VX happy to be out of the garage and on the road again...it's been a while.
So after we picked up the RS, we headed a little further east to a campsite I found online. Here is the Mrs. driving the VX up the trail.
The VX winding up...
...to Hinkey Summit.
The RS chillin' at Hinkey Summit.
Finally, we made it to our campsite for the day.
The RS came with a bike rack on the spare...gonna remove that ugly thing post haste.
Filthy engine.
I do like the brush guard though.
The RS and the VX.

Beautiful scenery.

On the way back Sunday, we stopped at the small ghost town of Paradise Valley.
Some very old buildings here, that may or may not be the scene of the next chainsaw massacre.
This house looked abandoned...
...but this fat car looked to be right at home.
SWB FTW!
Old international semi.
Yes, it is.
I very much wanted to ignore the sign and see what was inside.
I could have used a cold one if this place was actually open.
But it was just pigeons living there now.
All in all, a cool little spot only 3.5 hours from Reno.
