DESTROY to CREATE

So, in the last 5 days we have:

1) Removed all the carpet and carpet pad, including all the freakin' glue >:(
2) Removed all the carpet tack strips
3) Removed all the trim
4) Removed all the tile and mortar (not easy, not fun)

5) Prepared the stairs (cut off the bullnose with sawzall)

And tomorrow we have to remove the vinyl from the kitchen, grind the floor in a few areas and sand the railings.

My knees and hands are sore, but we are are on schedule.  And Habitat for Humanity came and took the
carpet so it wasn't a total waste.  We were going to try and salvage the trim, but apparently the new (or just
cheap) way to do trim these days is to use cardboard.  Yes folks, the trim was made from cardboard, and
basically just comes apart when you remove it....

I told you they would use crap. that is what most of these builders do to keep $$$ in there pocket! And the home owner never knows!

looking good. just watch the guys you got to do the work. if they start to screw up, stop them right away

  4. Yeah, well, the guy putting the floor in is a good guy. He is the same guy who put the floor in the model for our house (that's where we found him) and he did a really good job in there. Also, he is doing the WHOLE stair, so I don't need to mess with a white piece of wood on the front. I think its gonna look really nice that way. The Milwaukee Sawzall is badass.

But it is a small price to pay.

I know I bitch, but in a odd way, I still had fun doing all the work!
