Monterey Weekend Trip

So this past weekend we drove over to the coast again.  This time a little farther south to Monterey Bay.  We drove in on Friday night from Reno  It was a 5 hour drive.

Saturday morning we woke up and went straight to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

The collection they have there is amazing.  The Jellies were my favorite.

Check out the whale skeleton:

After the Aquarium, we went back to the hotel and scooped up CeCe and then walked back up the beach to the wharf.

On the way, we came across a sad, but very cool looking dead Harbor Seal.

We pressed on...

Once we got to the wharf, we walked around some more and then started looking for a place to eat.  Despite the fact that
I walked about 5 miles that day, I am still a fat tub of lard.

Here is where we ate lunch outside with CeCe.  Awesome seafood, to say the least.  Look how happy CeCe is.  She likes
dog friendly towns...

After gorging on calamari and some awesome prawn and shrimp dinner, we walked all the way back to the hotel.  We rested for a
bit and then went back outside.  Here is a night shot from beach hotel.

On Sunday we slept in a little and then went down to Pebble Beach and drove the "17 Mile Drive".  Its basically a golf resort for the ultra-rich, but the coastal sight seeing is really spectacular.  The next few shots are from Sunday's drive:

At one of the first beaches we stopped at, we came across yet another dead seal.  This time, it was even sadder because it was
just a baby.  But, I took photos of its rotting carcass nonetheless.  Death can be just as photogenic as life....at least in my eyes.

Thankfully, we finally came across some live seals at one of the beaches down the road.

We also ran across these coastal ground squirrels that were very friendly.

Here is a shot of Linda enjoying here Nikon D50:

And this is what I mean buy ultra-rich.  This is one of the many gigantic mansions along the 17 Mile Drive.

Toward the end of the drive, we ate lunch at the golf resort.  Then, we jumped back on Hwy 1 and headed back to Reno....

This final shot is from where we ate dinner.  It looks like a painting....
