This is just one of the many, many signs that we ignored while we took CeCe everywhere.
The below one is my favorite. You're not even allowed to say "shit" when you get spiked in the face playing volleyball.
I don't even think fucking Disney World has this many fucking rules. Fuck that shit.
CeCe is our daughter, and 99% of the time, dogs are more pleasant to be around than people. Anyway, for the first day, we spent some time wandering around downtown Santa Cruz and then we went a little further south to Capitola, which turned out to be a lot more pet friendly, which was nice. Capitola is primarily a coastal surf town full of shops, restauraunts and enjoyable places to hang out. We had a nice seafood lunch at a place called Zelda's. They let us sit on the deck with CeCe, next to these hungry birds who kept us company the whole time.
The next day, we went to Big Basin Redwoods State Park, where CeCe was ALSO not allowed (WTF? No dogs in the WOODS?), but we took her anyway. The redwoods trees are beyond description. You just have to see them to believe it. Just to get an idea, this is me INSIDE the "Mother of the Forrest".
This is Linda and CeCe infront of the "Mother"

This is me and CeCe infront of the "Father"

This is part of the trail we hiked known as "Slippery Rock". Its a steep incline up the side of a mountain through the Redwoods. It was taxing, to say the least.

CeCe enjoyed it nonetheless.

After the Redwood hike, the three of us were pretty spent. We went back to the hotel and napped for a little while, then we got up and went to Santa Cruz wharf. CeCe stayed behind for this one, because again, she was not welcomed.
Here are some shots from our walk down the pier. There were lots of gulls and seals to keep us entertained.

On the way back we stopped in the Miramar Fish Grotto for a pre-dinner drink and snack. The sunset we watched from there was breathtaking.

Being here gives me a new appreciation for the ocean and the beach. I hate to say it, but Florida beaches are pretty lame compared to the Pacific coast.
After this we went back to the hotel for a little while and then left for our dinner at the "Crow's Nest". We both wanted to have the same thing, so we did just that. Parmesean crusted Swordfish with artichoke risottto. Hells yeah, it was good.

Today we woke up late and checked out. Then we headed to the Santa Cruz beach to check out the amusement park. I really only wanted to go here because scenes from The Lost Boys were filmed here, like the carosel below:

Its was pretty neat, but all the rides were closed, and we really weren't supposed to be there anyway, since we had a dog with us. GOD FORBID!
After this, we drove around in a few circles and then decided to head up the coast towards halfmoon bay. This was actually my favorite part of the trip, because the coastline is so damn beautiful.
You have to be carefull though, because you could *quite* easily fall to a grizzly, wet, and very broken death here. A steep cliff of several hundred feet was just behind Linda and CeCe here.

I never get tired of watching CeCe play on the beach...especially when she is ALLOWED on the beach.

We left this insanely gorgeous spot and drove up the coast some more. Along the roadside, we passed what appeared to be a large dead dog. Linda thought it was a dead bear. I really didn't think it was a dead bear, but it was certainly huge enough to be one, so curiosity got the best of me and I turned around to see what it really was. Expecting to find it a huge dead dog of some kind, it actually turned out to be a wild pig...I've seen a lot of roadkill, but never a boar.

After that we found another nice beach just south of Half Moon Bay. We stopped there and played around on the rocks for a while.

There were tide pools filled with anenome and starfish.

After we got tired and hungry, we kept on going north to Half Moon Bay. We tried to get into three different restaraunts, but everyone there seemed to have a stick up their ass. But as we were about to leave we found a nice little diner where we had lunch. Then we headed back onto the highway toward Reno.
This is the last shot taken by Linda, of the sunset over the port.

Happy New Year. I hope 2007 is a good one.
